Irondune Cave is a cave located in the southwest part of Egho, with two possible entrances in the eastern Dunestone Desert. Before beating the game, the only accessible area is part of 1Fa, since the ladder is too hot to descend without special equipment. Dunestone Cliff is accessible from 1Fb.
Due to its geographical location, the cave is scorching hot and dry inside and filled with volcanic black rocks. The deeper the cave goes, the more lava pools are present. Because of the temperatures, Irondune Cave is known as the habitat of many Fire-type Pokémon. In order to reach the lowest level, the player must descend from the entrance to 2F accessible via Rock Climb. Heatran can be found on the lowest level of the cave.
If the Johto reality is unlocked, Entei can be set off from 2F to roam the region.
During the day, there is a Heat WaveMove Tutor in the part of 1Fa that is only accessible after beating the game.
The chest is located on the east side on 2F. Strength and Rock Smash are required to reach the chest. If Scarcer Items is active, the chest will not appear.
