The Trident Tower Tournament, or simply the Trident Tournament, is one of the most highly anticipated events in the Egho region. Held regularly on top of the towering Trident Tower, the tournament attracts many of the strongest trainers from all over the region who come to compete against one another. Those who manage to emerge victorious from the tournament earn the coveted title of champion of the Egho region.
After completing the game, players can unlock new trainers by interacting with them in specific locations.

- Professor Oak: unlocked by talking to him in Haydust Town, outside Professor Wormwood's Lab
- Brock: unlocked by beating him in Pebbledust Cave (1Fb)
- Misty: unlocked by beating her in Tidecliff Cave
- Lt. Surge: unlocked by beating him in Hazeport City (southeast); only during night
- Erika: unlocked by beating her in Genesis Forest (Southern Entry Zone)
- Koga: unlocked by beating him in Genesis Forest (Southwestern area)
- Sabrina: unlocked by beating her in Hazeport Suburb
- Blaine: unlocked by beating him in Suncrest Isle

- Blue: unlocked by talking to him in Amberfield Town
