Wereyena is a dual-type Dark/Fairy Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Infinity. It evolves from Mightyena when exposed to a Moon Stone, and is the final form of Poochyena.

Design Origin

Wereyena seems to be heavily inspired by Werewolves, bipedal wolves that were actually just humans that transformed during moonlight, which is reflected in its Pokedex entry. This also explains its Fairy typing, which has a lot of inspiration from the moon, and could be why it evolves with a Moon Stone. Its category and the fact that it evolves from Mightyena could also be a reference to the Werehyena from African folklore.

Name Origin

Wereyena comes from the prefix were, put in front of an animal to refer to someone who can shape-shift into said animal, and hyena.
